About Us

Just 90 kilometres west of the sugar city of Mackay, Broken River Mountain Resort is nestled on the banks of Broken River, a sub-tropical micro-climate that is famously home to unique animal life like the elusive platypus. Established in 1988, Broken River Mountain Resort offers guests comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location. The facilities of the resort include a restaurant, pool, outdoor areas and a function/conference centre.

Broken River Mountain Resort is an eco-resort with a primary focus on providing an experience of natural areas that foster environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation. Considered as the platypus capital of the world, the resort is a short walk from platypus viewing platforms that are open to the public and free to access. The best times to see platypus are when they feed in the early morning or late afternoon.

Available to guests are daytime guided tours or evening spotlighting sessions (bookings required) as well as other guided and non-guided activities. For more information on what you can do while staying at Broken River Mountain Resort, visit the Activities page by clicking here.
